A former Vice-President of the Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Abioye, has officially announced that Sunday morning services under his new ministry will begin on May 4, 2025. This revelation came during an evening gathering held in Abuja on Sunday, April 27.
During the meeting, Bishop Abioye informed the congregation about the change, which sparked an enthusiastic reaction filled with cheers, clapping, and shouts of joy. The crowd’s lively response showed their strong support for the next phase of his spiritual journey.
“Very important information. From next Sunday, by the grace of God, our service is migrating to morning. Hallelujah. And the time is 8 am. God bless you mightily in Jesus’ name,” he declared.
Abioye, together with Bishop Thomas Aremu, stepped down from their leadership roles at Living Faith Church in October 2024. Their retirement followed a new administrative rule which set the official retirement age for senior leaders at 55 years. At the time of their exit, Abioye was 63 years old, while Aremu was 67.
The updated policy also introduced a fresh guideline stating that future church leaders would only serve one or two terms of seven years each, depending on approval by the church’s Board of Trustees.
Interestingly, during his retirement ceremony, Bishop Abioye had mentioned that he had no intention to start a new church, pointing out that his focus was on assisting Bishop David Oyedepo in building Winners Chapel over the years.
However, after retiring, Abioye launched a non-denominational ministry which held services every Sunday evening. In one of his previous statements, Abioye had noted that the new ministry was established based on a divine calling and not out of personal ambition.
