The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara, has once again commended the performance of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti. Despite facing suspension from the PDP’s Abia State chapter, Wabara stood by his remarks, praising the governor’s leadership and developmental efforts.
Wabara made these statements on Sunday at the International Conference Center in Umuahia during the 80th birthday celebration of Dr. Godswill Okoro, a former Secretary to the State Government. Addressing the audience, Wabara reaffirmed his position, stating that his loyalty to Abia State comes before party politics.
He said, “Before becoming a PDP card-carrying member, before becoming an NRC card-carrying member in this state, I, Adolphus Nduneweh Wabara, was first and foremost a citizen of Abia.
“Politics ends after campaigns, after elections and then you start thinking of governance. Even a blind man can see what is happening in Abia! And, I am saying it again! Maybe now since they said I was suspended, they can now expel me.
“But, having said so, sir, continue with the works; our ancestors in Abia are with you. Maybe the PDP leadership in the state will go on air the next day to suspend Dr. Emelike Okoro, whom Governor Otti came to celebrate.
“I will be one of those who will continue to appreciate you. I have not mentioned the Labour Party; I have always mentioned Governor Alex Otti. We are all with you”, the BOT chairman of PDP declared.
Dr. Godswill Okoro, the birthday celebrant, also praised Otti’s administration. He specifically mentioned the governor’s effort in launching the reconstruction of Onuinyang-Oporoenyi Oboro Road, a project he believes will boost the agricultural sector in the state.
“Alex Otti, you have brought a breath of fresh air,” Okoro said, applauding the governor’s accessibility and dedication to the state’s development.
Governor Otti, in his speech, congratulated Okoro on reaching 80, calling him a father figure and mentor. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, stating that Abia belongs to all who reside there, regardless of political background.
Otti also addressed the importance of respecting elders in Igbo culture, urging people to refrain from insulting them for political reasons. He then announced plans to attend upcoming milestone celebrations, including the 70th birthday of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe on March 1, 2025, and the 80th birthday of Senator Chris Adighije on March 22, 2025.
