PDP Founding Member Dumps Party, Joins ADC

A founding figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Board of Trustees member, Adamu Waziri, has left the party and officially declared for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing loss of confidence in the PDP’s leadership and direction.

Waziri made the announcement on Monday at his Dogo Tebo Ward in Potiskum, Yobe State. He handed over his PDP membership card to the Ward Chairman, Malam Muhammad Bomai, in what marked the end of his long association with the party he helped establish.

According to Waziri, his resignation followed the procedures set by the PDP constitution, which requires members to resign at the ward level.

While explaining the reasons behind his decision, Waziri said the PDP no longer represents the qualities expected from a reliable opposition party.

“I was a member of PDP, and due to the exigencies of the moment and in the interest of the nation, I have decided to resign,” he said.

He further noted that the PDP’s leadership has lost its path and that his departure was not an easy one. However, he believes the choice is important in the present political atmosphere of the country.

Waziri encouraged his supporters and loyalists to follow his lead by backing a fresh political platform that he believes has the potential to improve democratic values and bring about improved leadership across Nigeria.

The Ward Chairman, Malam Muhammad Bomai, received Waziri’s resignation and shared his own sentiments on the departure. He described Waziri as a central figure in the PDP whose absence would be felt deeply.

“Waziri has been an institution within the PDP, and we will feel his absence deeply,” he said.

In a surprising twist, Bomai also declared his own exit from the PDP and immediate move to the ADC. He said his decision to join Waziri in the ADC was based on shared goals and a collective vision for a better future for the nation.

Bomai noted, “We must align with a platform that can move the country forward. The PDP, in its current form, no longer provides that.”
