Manchester City’s celebrated manager, Pep Guardiola, and his wife, Cristina Serra, have officially ended their 30-year relationship. The separation, described as amicable and mutual, was first reported by SPORT on Monday.
Sources close to the couple revealed that their decision to part ways came after years of living in different countries due to work commitments. Guardiola’s demanding career in football management and Serra’s responsibilities in Barcelona reportedly created a distance that became hard to bridge.
The couple’s journey began in 1994 when they first met in a clothing store. After dating for two decades, they tied the knot in a private ceremony near Barcelona in 2014. Over the years, they built a family together, raising three children: Maria, 24, Marius, 22, and Valentina, 17.
It has been reported that Serra resides full-time in Barcelona, focusing on her work in the family-owned fashion business, Serra Claret, while also caring for their youngest daughter, Valentina. Meanwhile, Guardiola has remained in Manchester, dedicated to his role as manager of Manchester City, where he recently extended his contract until 2027.
Although the couple decided to end their marriage in December 2024, they initially kept the news within their closest circle. According to reports, friends and family were advised not to disclose further details about the separation. Despite their personal challenges, both Guardiola and Serra have continued to appear in public, maintaining a cordial relationship.
Cristina Serra, a Brazilian journalist with a strong presence in the fashion industry, was last seen alongside Guardiola at several public events in 2023. While no official statement has been made by the couple, sources emphasize that the split is “stable and friendly,” with mutual respect remaining a priority.
