Peter Obi Nigerian Version of Donald Trump – Presidency

The Presidency has drawn a controversial comparison between Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of Nigeria’s Labour Party, and former U.S. President Donald Trump, who is also a candidate in the 2024 U.S. election.

Temitope Ajayi, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, made the statement on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, likening Obi’s political tactics to those of Trump.

Ajayi stated, “Peter Obi is the Nigeria version of Donald Trump. Like Obi, Trump will use the most negative epithets imaginable to describe a country he wants to lead again just to make a point and rile up his base.”

This comment followed the recent U.S. presidential debate between Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate.

During the debate, Harris and Trump clashed over key issues such as abortion rights and immigration, each trying to win over voters in a closely contested race.

Ajayi praised Harris’s performance, saying, “Kamala Harris prosecuted Trump very well in their first face to face debate yesterday night. Kamala convincingly won the debate and left no one in doubt about his capacity.

“Vice President Harris knew Trump’s weakness and set traps for him. Trump fell for her baits. Both candidates have been fact-checked on their claims in the debate. While Harris was reported to have made just one incorrect claim, Trump made 33 false claims in the same 90 minutes debate.”

Fact-checkers reported that Trump made 33 false statements during the 90-minute debate, while Harris was reported to have made only one incorrect claim.

Despite being fact-checked, Trump stood by his controversial remarks, including one where he falsely claimed that immigrants were consuming pets in Springfield, an accusation denied by the city manager.
