‘Please Help Me, My Husband is Making Confession Under Duress’ – Ex-Rivers HoS’s Wife

Florence Nwaeke, the wife of former Rivers State Head of Service (HoS), George Nwaeke, has expressed deep concern over her husband’s sudden disappearance following his resignation. She stated that she has been unable to reach him and fears for his safety.

Speaking to journalists on Friday night, Mrs. Nwaeke, who was visibly distressed, called on Nigerians for help. She explained that her husband had informed her of his safe arrival in Abuja but later appeared in an online interview making statements she believes were made under pressure.

“When he got to Abuja, he called that he had landed. I said, ‘Thank God’.

“The next thing I saw this night: people were calling me and said he got an interview. I said, ‘What interview? Interview for what?’ Not until I saw things flying on the internet that he granted an interview. What happened? I said, ‘That is not my husband. That is not my husband.’

“So I sent him a message. I said, ‘Are you under duress?’ I sent him a message. I said, ‘Have they kidnapped you? Talk to me now. Why are you not talking to me?’ This is the message I sent to him when I saw his interview online.

“Oh, Jesus, help me. Nigerians, help me. My husband is in trouble. My husband is in trouble. My husband is in trouble. My husband is in trouble. Look at the message I sent to him. See the message I sent to him. I said, ‘Daddy, why? Were you in hostage?’ I said, ‘Why didn’t you talk to me?’ These are the messages I sent to him, but he didn’t reply to me. His numbers are not going through. Nigerians, help me! Nigerians, help me,” she said.

Her cries for help came just hours after George Nwaeke had given an exclusive interview accusing Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara of various political and security-related issues.

Among his allegations, he claimed the governor was planning to support Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed in the 2027 presidential election and had encouraged militants to attack oil facilities.

Following the interview, Mrs. Nwaeke released another video urging Governor Fubara to intervene and help locate her husband. She insisted that he was forced to resign and was likely under pressure to make statements that were not his own.
