Police Arrest 41 Over Killing of Rano DPO in Kano State

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 41 people following the tragic killing of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rano Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Baba Ali. The officer was attacked and killed while on duty, an incident that has shocked both law enforcement and the wider community.

According to the police, the suspects include several individuals believed to be the key people involved in the crime. A statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, described the killing as both brutal and deeply painful for the force.

“This senseless killing is a grave attack on the very fabric of our society and a direct assault on the sacrifices of our brave officers who risk their lives daily to protect our communities,” the police said in the statement.

The violent attack, which took place earlier this week, reportedly also involved acts of destruction and arson. Following the incident, the police quickly started a full investigation and carried out operations that led to the arrest of the 41 suspects now in custody.

Among those detained, the police noted that some are directly linked to the actual murder. The Command promised that justice will be served and assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and thorough.

The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, has promised that the force will continue working to protect lives and property. He urged residents to stay calm and cooperate with investigators by sharing any helpful information.

“We appreciate the public’s understanding, condolences, and cooperation. We urge citizens to continue to support the police in our mission to protect and serve,” the statement read.
