Police Arrest Fake Officer Linked to Threat of Reprisal Attacks Over Uromi Killings

The Kaduna State Police Command have arrested an individual who was posing as a police officer while threatening reprisal attacks on Southern residents in the North. The suspect, identified as Hadian Hussaini, was making waves on social media with comments that sparked concern among the public.

DSP Mansir Hassan, the Police Public Relations Officer, clarified in a statement that Hussaini was not a member of the Nigeria Police Force, nor was he associated with the Kaduna State Police Command in any capacity.

“The attention of Kaduna State Police Command has been drawn to a comment made on a Facebook post credited to one Hadian Hussaini (Dan-taki), which has been making rounds on various social media platforms with the caption ‘Kaduna Police Officer threatens Retaliation Against Southerners in Uromi Killings,'” Hassan stated.

The misleading post made it appear as though Hussaini was an active member of the police force, causing alarm and stirring discussions about potential threats of violence. However, Hassan made it clear that the suspect had no connection to the police, nor did he hold any official position. “To set the record straight, Hadian Hussaini is neither a member of the Nigeria Police Force nor a personnel of Kaduna State Police Command.”

Further investigation revealed that Hussaini had previously been a member of the Police Special Constabulary, a voluntary police support unit, attached to the Kaduna State Constabulary Office. However, he had been dismissed from the unit two years ago due to concerns about his character. The statement noted that Hussaini had posted pictures of himself in a police uniform on social media, which were taken during his time with the Police Special Constabulary. The uniform, as seen in the photos, displayed the acronym ‘PSC/KD’, indicating his affiliation with the Special Constabulary, not the regular police force.

Authorities emphasized that the photos were shared on social media two years ago, long before Hussaini’s dismissal. The police also reminded the public to be vigilant and verify the identity of individuals before making assumptions. “It is pertinent to note that his picture captured on Police Uniform as displayed on the social media, which is an improper dressing, is that of him when he was a member of the Police Special Constabulary attached to Kaduna State Constabulary Office,” the statement continued.

The Kaduna Police Command warned that the Nigeria Police Force is a disciplined institution dedicated to maintaining law and order, and it would not tolerate any form of hate speech, incitement, or threats aimed at undermining the peace and unity of the nation. Hussaini will be charged in court following the completion of preliminary investigations.
