Officers from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers in the Sangotedo area along the Lekki-Epe Expressway. The suspects, identified as Emmanuel Cletus, 32, and Adegor Joshua, 27, were taken into custody during a routine security operation in the early hours of the morning.
Authorities stated that during the arrest, the police recovered an automatic pistol along with five live rounds of ammunition. The operation was carried out around 4:00 a.m. by a patrol team conducting surveillance in the area.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said: “The duo, who were found in possession of a loaded firearm, are currently undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.”
A senior police official also stated, “A patrol team arrested the suspects during an early-morning operation. One automatic pistol and five live rounds of ammunition were recovered from them. They are presently in custody undergoing interrogation for possible prosecution.”
The police noted that the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to address security concerns along the Lekki-Epe corridor, which has witnessed various criminal activities in recent times. Officers have been conducting regular patrols in the area to prevent crimes such as armed robbery and other unlawful acts.
Authorities are now investigating whether the suspects have connections to previous crimes in the region. The police have urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to help improve security.
“The case is expected to proceed to court once investigations are concluded,” Hundeyin added.
