The Osun State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Saudi, for allegedly beheading his father, a village elder known as Baale, on their farm in Ilusi village. This disturbing event has left the local community in shock.
According to residents, Baale left for his farm early on Thursday but did not return home. Concerned villagers organized a search and found his headless body on Friday, November 1, hidden under palm leaves. Baale’s motorcycle and harvested cocoa were discovered nearby, indicating he had been working on the farm before his death.
A local resident, Ismail Olaolu, explained that suspicion quickly fell on Baale’s son, Saudi, who had accompanied him to the farm that day. After questioning, Saudi allegedly confessed to the killing and was handed over to the police.
Osun Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola confirmed the arrest, stating that Saudi remains in custody as the investigation continues. The incident has left villagers in disbelief, as such violence is unprecedented in their quiet community.
