Police Busts Illegal Baby Factory in Lagos, Arrest 3 Suspects

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command has uncovered an illegal baby factory operating in Ijegun area and successfully rescued ten victims. The discovery was made following a confidential tip-off received by the police on Saturday, April 6, 2025.

The command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, shared with journalists that officers acted swiftly on the intelligence and stormed the premises. Upon arrival, they arrested 35-year-old Mariam Vincent, the alleged mastermind of the operation.

Two other individuals, Orie Ruth (23) and Ujunwa Ifeanyi (18), were also taken into custody during the raid.

In total, the police rescued seven adult women and three young children from the scene. The children were identified as Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2). The adult victims included Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26).

Authorities stated that the victims are now in safe hands and are being cared for by the relevant agencies. Investigators noted that the suspects admitted to abducting the women and children from different parts of Lagos to run the illegal operation. The exact nature of the activities conducted in the facility is still under investigation.

Hundeyin explained that charges will be filed once the investigation is complete and emphasized that efforts are ongoing to dismantle other similar criminal networks operating in the state.

In an update on wider police operations, Hundeyin mentioned that 39 individuals had been apprehended over the past two weeks for various crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, rape, vandalism, and illegal possession of firearms.

In a separate but related case, police also managed to rescue two kidnapped victims from the Igbe Alagemo area in Ikorodu. The victims had been abducted during a violent attack on March 26, 2025. The kidnappers reportedly stormed the community at night, killed a guard dog, and kidnapped a 40-year-old man named Dare and a 25-year-old woman, Rodiat.

After three days of intensive efforts by the police and local security teams, the victims were found and rescued on March 29. “The victims were immediately reunited with their families, and the area is now relatively calm,” said Hundeyin, who also noted that surveillance in the area has been increased to prevent further incidents.
