The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has begun a full-scale investigation and manhunt after a family and their visitor were kidnapped in the Kubwa area of Abuja. The police are conducting search and rescue operations to locate and apprehend the suspected kidnappers.
The incident occurred on January 27, 2025, around 1 p.m. when the FCT Police Command received an urgent distress call regarding the abduction and assault of a family in the Chikakore community, a part of the Kubwa region. Officers were quickly deployed to the scene to gather information and assess the situation.
Initial findings from the investigation suggest that seven armed individuals, disguised as vigilante members, attacked the family’s residence. These men were reportedly carrying machetes and sticks, which they used to intimidate and overpower the victims.
The kidnappers tricked the family into opening the gate, and once inside, they abducted the father, his wife, their older son, and a guest who was visiting the home at the time.
A neighbor who attempted to intervene in the situation was injured by the attackers and had to be rushed to the Kubwa General Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities are now focused on finding the criminals responsible for this violent act and bringing them to justice.
SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed that the FCT Police Command has launched a comprehensive search effort to ensure the safe return of the victims.
The police are urging residents in the Chikakore area, and the public at large, to stay vigilant and report any information that could aid in the investigation.
