Police Neutralize Notorious Armed Robber, Arrest Suspected Kidnapper and Others

The Police Command in Kaduna State has made significant progress in its ongoing crackdown on criminal activities, announcing the arrest of one suspected kidnapper and five notorious armed robbers, while neutralizing another suspect during an operation in Kaduna.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, provided details of the incidents in a statement released on Thursday.

According to Hassan, the police operatives, under the Operation Fushi Kada, intercepted a dangerous armed robbery gang on Tuesday along the Karji/Sabon Tasha axis of the state, acting on reliable intelligence.

During the operation, the robbers engaged the police in a fierce gunfight.

“But due to the superior firepower of the police, five suspects were detained, while one suspect, Christopher Bobai, also known as ‘Baban Dodo,’ sustained serious injuries while attempting to flee. He was confirmed dead by a medical doctor,” Hassan stated.

The suspects in custody were identified as Gideon Martins, Joy Gideon, Joshua Gama, Umar Usman, and Bashir Yusuf.

All five have confessed to their involvement in the crimes and are currently assisting the police in tracking down other gang members who are still at large.

Recovered from the suspects were various weapons and items, including an English-made pistol, a locally-made pistol, Nigerian Army camouflage uniform, cutlasses, jungle boots, SIM cards, black uniforms, and jungle caps.

In a related development on Wednesday, police operatives, acting on credible intelligence, arrested a suspected kidnapper, Saidu Inusa, also known as “Haske,” in Burinta, Bishini Ward of Kachia Local Government Area.

Inusa, who confessed to participating in multiple kidnappings across the state, was found in possession of an AK-47 rifle.
