Police Officer Who Rejected $200,000 Bribe Converts to Islam

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Daniel Amah, celebrated for his honesty in rejecting a $200,000 bribe, has made headlines again, this time for embracing Islam.

The conversion ceremony took place at the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, in a private gathering that underscored the significance of integrity and faith.

During the ceremony, ACP Amah adopted the name Muhammad and was warmly welcomed into the Islamic community.

Speaking in Hausa, the Emir advised him to prioritize gaining knowledge of Islam and to observe the religion’s five pillars: belief in Allah, daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, pilgrimage to Mecca, and charitable giving (Zakat).

The Emir also prayed for ACP Amah’s guidance and urged him to uphold his commendable character and respect his parents, regardless of their faith.

ACP Daniel Amah first gained national recognition in April 2022 while serving as the Divisional Police Officer in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

He rejected a $200,000 bribe offered by suspects involved in a robbery of over N300 million. His integrity led to his promotion to Assistant Commissioner of Police on November 10, 2022, by the Police Service Commission.

His exemplary conduct also earned him the prestigious 2022 Public Service Integrity Award, presented by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
