The Kwara State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of Qoyum Ishola, a 21-year-old student at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
Ishola, an ND2 Electrical/Electronics Engineering student, was allegedly killed during a protest against fuel price hikes on September 4, 2024, in the Fate area of Ilorin. The incident has stirred public outrage and calls for justice.
In a statement, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, the Police Public Relations Officer, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
“The Kwara State Police Command extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola during this painful and trying time. We deeply sympathize with the family, friends, and all those affected by this unfortunate event which occurred on 4th September 2024.
“The loss of a loved one, especially in such circumstances, is a burden that no family should have to bear alone. Our thoughts are with you, and we pray for strength and comfort for everyone involved. On behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya psc(+), he assures the family that we stand with them in this difficult moment and are committed to seeking justice on behalf of the deceased.
