Police Reveals Identity of Officers Killed in Abuja Attack by Shi’ite Group

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has revealed the identities of the two officers who were tragically killed during an attack by members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), commonly known as Shi’ites, in Abuja. The incident occurred at the Wuse Market Junction on August 23, 2024, when the group launched an unexpected assault on the police officers stationed in the area.

According to the police, the slain officers have been identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Innocent Agabi and Inspector Alexander Odey. Both officers were on duty at the time of the attack and lost their lives in the line of service. In addition to the fatalities, three other officers were severely injured and were found unconscious after the incident. They were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the names of the deceased officers in an official statement. She expressed deep condolences to the families of the fallen officers, noting the profound impact their deaths will have on their loved ones. “As breadwinners for their families, one can only imagine the deep sorrow their loved ones are experiencing now,” the statement read.
