Police Uncover LASU Graduate’s Shallow Grave, Arrest Fourth Suspect

The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered the burial site of Adedamola Ogunbode, a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), following the arrest of the main suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo.

Authorities had been searching for Ogunbode since January 16, 2025, when he was reported missing. His disappearance had sparked fears that he had been murdered, especially after reports surfaced suggesting his body had been found mutilated.

The case took a significant turn last Friday when the police announced the arrest of three suspects linked to the crime. Among them was a pastor, Whepetoji Sunday, who allegedly received N70,000 from the victim’s account.

Another suspect, Sheriff Adebayo, was accused of collecting N300,000. The police also arrested Omolara Ajisomo, the mother of the prime suspect, who allegedly helped her sons, Olaoluwa and Teniola Ajisomo, escape after they reportedly withdrew N300,000 from the victim’s account.

Despite initial reports that the main suspect had fled to the Benin Republic, police operatives tracked him down and arrested him on Monday morning in the Alakuko area of Lagos State. The police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest.

“The principal suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo, was arrested yesterday (Monday) morning at the Alakuko area. He was the one who cleared the victim’s bank account through the victim’s mobile phone,” Hundeyin said.

Following his arrest, Ajisomo led detectives to the location where Ogunbode’s body had been buried. However, Hundeyin clarified that the grave was not within the church premises where the arrested pastor worshipped, as some had speculated.

“The shallow grave is not around the church premises, but it is there in the community. The church was sealed following intelligence reports that some people planned to burn it out of vengeance, and we do not want that to happen,” he stated.

A police source involved in the investigation revealed that detectives were already on their way to exhume Ogunbode’s remains.

“I just received information that the newly arrested suspect has confessed to killing the LASU graduate, and the police are on their way to the burial site,” the source said.

When asked to confirm this update, Hundeyin responded briefly, saying, “Confirmed.”
