Political Thugs Attack PDP Chieftain’s House in Delta, Set it Ablaze

The home of Azubuike Christian Uwechue, a prominent member and former ward secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), was attacked and set on fire by unknown political thugs.

Azubuike, known for his grassroots mobilization efforts, had recently been in conflict with party leaders over accusations of anti-party activities and allegedly accepting money from opposition party members. This attack took place in the Ogwashi-Uku area, intensifying local political tensions.

Collins Ibieneye, an eyewitness, described the violent scene. He said the assailants jumped over the fence of Azubuike’s residence, causing significant damage. “They destroyed window glasses and other valuables,” Collins said, recounting the event with visible distress.

The attackers were heavily armed, carrying gasoline, foam, axes, Dane guns, cutlasses, and other dangerous weapons. According to Collins, “They beat up three people they met inside the house, including two young women. One of the thugs carted away a laptop and two sneakers while another was filming the activity.”

The assault could have been even more devastating if not for the swift actions of local vigilantes and neighbors. Their timely intervention stopped the thugs from burning down the entire house.

Collins reported that the attackers threatened to return and completely destroy the building if Azubuike did not cease his involvement in the affairs of the PDP at the local government and state levels.
