Nigerian controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, has taken to social media to reveal a drastic change in appearance and offer a heartfelt apology to veteran Fuji musician, Saheed Osupa.
The singer, known for his wild public image and colourful hairstyles, surprised fans by sharing a video on his Instagram reels where he appeared with a clean-shaven head.
Alongside the video, Portable also posted a photo of Osupa, with a caption that read, “God bless you, sir. I’m sorry Baami.” This public apology comes shortly after the singer was released from police custody in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.
Portable had found himself in legal trouble after a petition was filed against him by Saheed Osupa.
The petition, submitted to the police, accused Portable of several serious offences including criminal defamation, inciting public disturbance, cyberstalking, and criminal intimidation.
These charges stemmed from comments made by Portable during a live Instagram session on March 19, where he allegedly accused Osupa of being jealous of his rising career and attempting to undermine him.
Following the petition, Portable was arraigned before the Upper Area Court in Ilorin on Monday. The charges brought against him were based on provisions from the Penal Code, the Cybercrimes Act of 2015, and the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of 2020.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Sunday Adeniyi, granted Portable bail set at N1 million, with two sureties. One of the sureties was required to be a chairman of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, while the other had to own a landed property within the Government Reserved Area under the court’s jurisdiction.
Despite the bail being granted, Portable was unable to meet the conditions immediately and was remanded at the Oke Kura correctional facility in Ilorin. However, on Tuesday, he was released after Osupa, through his legal representative Opalekunde Ahmed, officially withdrew the petition.
