Throughout his career, Pepe earned 141 caps for the Portuguese national team.

In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, he expressed gratitude to numerous people who played a role in his journey. Pepe thanked God for providing him with the wisdom to pursue his dreams, as well as the various club presidents and employees who supported him.
