President Tinubu Arrives Tanzania for Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit

President Bola Tinubu has landed in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to attend the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit, which is set to begin on Tuesday, January 27.

The Nigerian leader touched down at 10:20 p.m. local time (8:20 p.m. in Nigeria) and was warmly received by Tanzania’s Minister of State, Office of the President, Hon. Ali Suleiman Ameir.

The summit, which will run for two days, is hosted by the government of Tanzania in collaboration with the African Union, the African Development Bank Group, and the World Bank Group.

The summit’s first day will focus on ministerial-level discussions. During this session, participating countries, including Nigeria, will share their national energy plans. These plans, referred to as “compacts,” will outline how each nation aims to achieve universal access to energy within the next five years.

On the second day, Heads of State are expected to approve the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, which will lay out a shared plan for Africa’s energy transformation. This declaration is part of the broader Mission 300 initiative, which seeks to ensure reliable energy access across the continent.

President Tinubu is scheduled to deliver a national address during the summit. In his speech, he will reaffirm Nigeria’s dedication to achieving universal energy access while emphasizing its leadership role in Africa’s energy development.

The President is also expected to note Nigeria’s ongoing efforts in clean energy initiatives and its strategies for promoting integrated energy solutions across Africa.

Accompanying the President on this important trip are several key officials, including Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, and Special Adviser on Energy Olu Verheijen. Other senior government representatives are also part of the delegation.
