President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States. In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed his excitement for the future of US-Nigeria relations under Trump’s leadership.
In the statement, titled “President Tinubu Congratulates President-Elect Trump,” Tinubu highlighted his hopes for strengthened cooperation between Nigeria and the United States. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing global challenges, fostering economic growth, and promoting peace.
“Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens,” Tinubu said.
The Nigerian president also acknowledged the trust the American people have placed in Trump’s leadership, noting that his victory in the 2024 elections is a testament to their confidence in him. Tinubu also praised the American people for their commitment to democracy.
Given Trump’s prior experience as the 45th President from 2017 to 2021, Tinubu expressed confidence that his return to the White House will lead to meaningful partnerships between the United States and Africa, benefiting both sides economically and developmentally.
Moreover, Tinubu noted that the United States’ global influence could play a vital role in shaping the future of world peace and prosperity, with hopes that President Trump’s leadership will bring the world closer to these goals.
“President Tinubu believes that, given President Trump’s experience as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, his return to the White House as the 47th President will usher in an era of earnest, beneficial, and reciprocal economic and development partnerships between Africa and the United States,” Onanuga noted.
