Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has agreed to loan French forward Randal Kolo Muani to Juventus. The loan deal, which was finalized on Thursday, will see Kolo Muani play for the Italian club until June 30. Both clubs issued statements confirming the agreement.
The move was delayed due to PSG’s limit on the number of players it could loan out to foreign clubs at the same time.
However, the issue was resolved following reports in France that PSG defender Juan Bernat had terminated his contract with the club, allowing his loan move to Villarreal to become a permanent transfer. This cleared the way for Kolo Muani’s temporary switch to Turin.
Kolo Muani, 26, has struggled for consistent playing time at PSG since the start of the season. Despite being a regular member of the French national team, he has only started twice for the Parisian side in the first half of the campaign.
The forward has managed just two goals for PSG this season and has seen limited action, playing only 78 minutes since early November.
Kolo Muani originally joined PSG from Eintracht Frankfurt in a high-profile €90 million ($93.7 million) transfer at the beginning of last season. In his debut season in Paris, he made 40 appearances and scored nine goals. However, with opportunities scarce this term, the move to Juventus is seen as a chance for him to gain more minutes on the pitch.
Juventus, currently fifth in Serie A, have been facing challenges in their attack due to injuries. The team recently struggled to find the back of the net in a goalless Champions League draw against Club Brugge. Kolo Muani’s arrival is expected to strengthen their forward line.
The Frenchman will join fellow countrymen Pierre Kalulu and Khephren Thuram at Juventus. Thuram, the son of legendary French footballer Lilian Thuram, carries a family legacy that includes two Serie A titles with Juventus.
