Nigerian afrobeats sensation, Rema, has arrived in India to perform at the high-profile wedding of Anant Ambani, son of Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharmaceutical tycoons Viren and Shaila Merchant.
Rema shared his excitement on Instagram Thursday night by posting a video of himself in an all-black outfit, walking towards a private chartered plane. He added ‘Azaman’ from his recent album, ‘He Is,’ as background music and included an emoji of the Indian flag.
The Hindustan Times reported that Rema is receiving $3 million to perform his worldwide hit ‘Calm Down’ at the event.
Other international stars are also performing at the wedding. Canadian singer Justin Bieber was reportedly paid $10 million for his appearance, while pop icon Rihanna delivered a performance for an undisclosed amount.
Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant are set to get married on July 12 at the Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. This four-day wedding celebration is the grand finale of a series of extravagant parties that the Ambani family has hosted since March.
The guest list is as impressive as the performances, with celebrities like Kim Kardashian, former UK Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt, and former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper expected to attend.
