‘Rescue My Constituency from Bandits’ – Lawmaker begs Tinubu, IGP

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmed Adamu Saba, has made a passionate appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, asking them to take immediate action to protect his constituency from a wave of violent attacks by bandits and kidnappers.

Saba, who represents Edu, Moro, and Patigi federal constituency in Kwara State, spoke out about the growing insecurity in the area, saying it has brought fear, grief, and hardship to his people. In a press statement issued in Ilorin through his Special Assistant on Digital Media, Bello Hamidu, the lawmaker described the situation as “deeply troubling” and said it demands urgent government intervention.

He noted that one of the most recent incidents took place in Tashagi, Edu local government area, where a cattle rearer was killed inside his home. Tragically, five of his children were also abducted during the attack and have not been found since. The family is still in distress, with no word on the children’s condition or location.

In another part of the constituency, Gbugbu community near Ndeji road, Saba said a local businessman and his manager were kidnapped over two weeks ago and are still being held captive. “Infact, as we speak, they’re asking for more ransom and threatening to harm the victims,” he said.

The lawmaker expressed sympathy for the affected families and assured them that he would continue pushing for stronger security measures. He also encouraged residents to remain calm and hopeful, saying efforts are being made to restore peace.

According to Saba, fear has overtaken the daily lives of people in the area. “My people can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed, to go to farm for their means of livelihood is now difficult for the fear of being attacked. My people can no longer freely go to do their legitimate businesses, it’s that bad.”

He stressed that the criminal acts being carried out by bandits and kidnappers cannot be allowed to continue unchecked. “This is not acceptable, and this kind inhuman and criminal activities can no longer be accepted, something needs to be done urgently to return situation to normalcy in my constituency.”

Saba appealed directly to the President, the Governor, and the police leadership to step in quickly and bring relief to the communities. “I’m appealing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our performing Governor, and Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON and the efficient Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, to quickly come to our rescue in my constituency, situation is really bad, about the activities of bandits and Kidnappers.”

He further noted that the trauma residents are facing is unbearable and urged all relevant authorities to take action. “This development is unacceptable in any community and surely cannot continue to happen.”
