The Kogi State Government has assured retirees that their pension and gratuity payments are now handled in a fair and transparent manner. This means retired workers no longer need to rely on personal connections or lobbying to get their entitlements.
The Director-General of the Kogi State Pension Commission, Mariam Abedo, made this known in a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah. She explained that the government has adopted a technology-driven payment system designed to ensure efficiency and fairness in pension processing.
“Once a retiree’s documentation is complete, their payment is processed without any influence. We currently process over 200 retirees daily,” she stated.
Abedo also noted that the commission has made significant progress in clearing outstanding pension arrears. She said that funds have been consistently made available by the state government to fulfill its obligations to retirees.
She further noted that the introduction of a more transparent and accountable system has greatly improved the commission’s operations. This has made pension payments more reliable and faster compared to previous years.
At the same time, Abedo cautioned retirees to be wary of individuals who claim they can speed up pension payments in exchange for money. She stressed that all entitlements are processed strictly based on merit and official procedures.
She also praised Governor Usman Ododo for making the welfare of retirees a priority. She reassured pensioners that payments would continue as long as the government provides funds to the commission.
