National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has warned political critics and opposition figures not to underestimate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership or the changes taking place in the country under his administration.
Speaking at the 2025 National Cybersecurity Conference in Abuja, Ribadu said the Tinubu-led government has made Nigeria more secure, stable, and attractive for investment. He said those criticizing the president are stuck in the past, with outdated ideas and no meaningful contributions to the country’s growth.
“Things are changing. We are stabilising the country. Forget what some people are saying — Nigeria is safer and better every single day,” Ribadu stated.
He noted that insecurity has dropped in key regions, including the Niger Delta and the South-East. Ribadu said this progress is due to strong collaboration between security agencies and technology partners, as well as proactive strategies led by the government.
“Niger Delta is safer than ever before. The South-East is returning to normalcy. Those fueling unrest from abroad will be tracked and prosecuted. We will not allow external forces to destabilize our progress,” he said.
Ribadu also described President Tinubu as a modern, knowledgeable, and forward-thinking leader. According to him, Tinubu’s administration is focused on economic revival and building a stronger nation.
“We have quality leadership today in our country. Mr. President is a digital President. He is educated and deeply informed. People who underestimate him are doing so at their own peril,” Ribadu warned.
He criticized opposition leaders and some media voices who, he said, had harmed the country in the past and are now trying to remain relevant by attacking the government.
“These are people who looted and plundered this country. Now they are shouting on television. They are outdated. Nigeria has moved on — and Nigerians are wiser,” Ribadu remarked.
The NSA urged tech companies, innovators, and foreign investors to take advantage of Nigeria’s growing digital economy, pointing out that the country is now ready to lead Africa in technology and business.
“We are working with major telecom operators. Our cybersecurity strategy is strong. Nigeria is safe and open for business. Investors should know that Nigeria is the future of Africa,” Ribadu assured.
He ended by noting the importance of national unity and trust in the current leadership, urging Nigerians to focus on the future and ignore the voices of those stuck in the past.
