Rivers State Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu, has dismissed claims that she has resigned from office. A viral video circulating on social media suggested that she stepped down due to political pressure, but her office has now set the record straight.
In a statement released by her press secretary, Owupele Benebo, on Wednesday, Odu reaffirmed her commitment to her duties and described the resignation rumors as false.
“The Office of the Deputy Governor of Rivers State wishes to categorically debunk the false and misleading reports circulating online suggesting that Her Excellency, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, DSSRS, has resigned,” the statement read.
It further noted that the deputy governor remains fully dedicated to her role and continues to work alongside Governor Siminalayi Fubara to serve the people of Rivers State.
The statement also stressed Odu’s extensive background as a public servant and academic, adding that her experience has been valuable to the administration.
Her office urged the public to disregard the viral claims, stating that they were nothing more than “malicious speculation.”
