The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has confirmed the use of an authentic voters register provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the local government elections in Rivers State. The RSIEC reassured voters that the electoral process is running smoothly and without issues across the various polling units.
In the Emohua Local Government Area, specifically at Unit 8, Ward 3 in Isiodu Community, Presiding Officer Azunda Fulfill expressed confidence in the ongoing electoral process.
According to Fulfill, “The process is going fine. People are voting. For now, there is no issue. We are doing the work calmly.” He further clarified that the voter register being used for the election matches the one used in the 2023 national elections. “The voter register we have is the same thing as the one used for the 2023 election. The voter’s card and the register are tallied. It is the correct voter register,” he emphasized.
Reports indicate that voting activities are also proceeding smoothly in other parts of Emohua LGA. For instance, in Unit 26, Ward 4, voters turned out early to cast their ballots. This particular ward is notable as it is where Senator Andrew Uchendu is registered to vote.
Meanwhile, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo, the Chairmanship Candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), cast his vote at Unit 40. Ihunwo, alongside other party candidates, expressed satisfaction with the election’s progress, noting that the peaceful atmosphere was a positive sign for the integrity of the election results.
