The Saudi Arabian government has given its approval for the burial of prominent Kano businessman and philanthropist, Aminu Dantata, in the holy city of Madina.
This was confirmed by Mustapha Abdullahi Junaid, who served as the Principal Private Secretary to the late elder statesman. In a Facebook post, Junaid noted that the authorities had granted permission to transport Dantata’s body from Abu Dhabi to Madina, where the burial is scheduled to take place on Monday morning.
Aminu Dantata passed away at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. According to family sources, the late businessman had made it clear in his will that he wished to be buried in Madina after his death. This wish is now being fulfilled with the approval of the Saudi authorities.
Junaid’s message on social media read: “an approval has been gotten to move the corpse of Aminu Dantata from Abu Dhabi to Madina for the burial tomorrow, Monday morning”.
Back home in Nigeria, the news of Dantata’s passing led to an outpouring of grief, especially in Kano, where he was widely known and respected for his business legacy and acts of charity. On Saturday, special funeral prayers were held in his honor at the Umar Bin Khattab Mosque in Kano. Though his body was not present, hundreds gathered to pay their final respects.
The prayer session was led by Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, Chairman of the Kano State Council of Ulamas. In attendance were political leaders, business associates, community elders, and friends who came to pray for the late icon and share condolences with his family.
