Security Forces Rescue 10 Kidnapped Victims, Neutralize One Bandit in Katsina

Katsina State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs announced a successful rescue mission that led to the safe recovery of 10 kidnapped individuals and the death of one suspected bandit.

This was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. According to the ministry, the operation was carried out late Tuesday night in Gidan Marke, located in Musawa Local Government Area. The victims—six women and four men—were reportedly abducted by armed bandits from Kiroro, Kabbi, and Dogon Marke communities in the same region.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, revealed that the operation began after receiving credible information from local residents. “Building on credible intelligence received from community members, a well-coordinated joint operation was launched by the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (C-Watch) and the Nigeria Police Force in Musawa Local Government Area at approximately 10:00 PM on April 8, 2025,” the statement read.

During the operation, security operatives engaged the criminals, which led to the death of one bandit. The abducted victims were rescued without harm and have since returned to their families.

Dr. Mu’azu noted that the success of this mission reflects the growing partnership between community members and security agencies. He stated, “This successful rescue operation justifies the effectiveness of the community intelligence gathering and the growing synergy between Katsina security agencies.”

He also praised the security teams for their bravery and professionalism. “The Ministry, on behalf of Governor Dikko Radda, commend the brave men of the Nigeria Police Force and the Community Watch Corps for their swift action and professionalism in this operation.”

The government also assured residents of its continued efforts to combat crime and protect lives. “It should be emphasised that the State government remains resolute in its commitment to protecting citizens from criminal elements. More importantly, the onslaught against the enemies of the state will be sustained and intensified. The Government will continue to deploy all necessary resources to ensure the safety and security of all communities across Katsina State,” the statement added.
