Senator Withdraws from Legislative Duties Due to Health Challenge

The lawmaker representing Cross River North Senatorial District in Nigeria’s National Assembly, Senator Agom Jarigbe, has shared that he will be stepping away from official duties for a short while due to a health condition.

In a statement released on Monday, Senator Jarigbe explained that he is currently undergoing medical treatment. On the advice of his healthcare team, he will temporarily pause both his legislative responsibilities and community engagements. This development has also led to the postponement of an endorsement rally that was set to take place soon.

He noted that the decision was taken in order to focus on his recovery and to ensure that he returns with full strength to continue representing his people effectively.

“This is a necessary pause, and I am having proper medical attention. God willing, I expect to fully resume my responsibilities within the next two weeks or even sooner,” he stated.

Senator Jarigbe also took time to appreciate the continued prayers and encouragement from his supporters. He noted that pausing the scheduled event was a thoughtful move, as he wants to be fully fit before continuing with public engagements and outreach.

“No mortal is immune to health challenges. This moment reminds us of the fragile nature of life and the need for compassion,” he added.

Addressing those who may try to take advantage of his condition for political gain, Jarigbe urged people to maintain kindness and understanding during this time. “Let us not lose our shared sense of humanity in the name of politics,” he urged.

In his absence, he advised constituents who may need medical help to reach out to his constituency office. He assured them that the office remains active and ready to provide necessary support during this short break.
