A gas cylinder explosion at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State has caused significant damage to six vehicles. The incident occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Tamal Filling Station, located along Kagadama-Magamar Jibia Road.
According to the state police command, the explosion was heard loudly by officers stationed at the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters. The Divisional Police Officer quickly responded by leading a team of police and military personnel to the scene to assess the situation. Upon arrival, they found a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames.
“The joint team swiftly deployed preventive measures to protect lives and minimise property damage, successfully quenching the fire,” said Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the police spokesperson.
Although the fire caused extensive damage to six motor vehicles, it was fortunate that no lives were lost. The Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, has ordered a detailed investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.
