The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has inaugurated a medical team tasked with screening all intending pilgrims ahead of the 2025 Hajj.
The event, which took place at the agency’s headquarters in Sokoto, marks an important step towards ensuring a smooth and healthy pilgrimage for residents of the state. The agency said that the medical team’s work is crucial in safeguarding the health of all those traveling for this year’s religious journey.
In a statement issued by the Head of Information and Communication of the agency, Faruku Umar, the Chairman of the Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, described the new responsibility as a “sacred trust.”
He called on members of the medical screening team to handle their duties with “sincerity, patience, and commitment.”
The statement also noted that the Acting Executive Secretary of the agency, Alhaji Ladan Ibrahim, stressed the importance of protecting the welfare of Sokoto pilgrims.
He urged the team to pay close attention to the health needs of every individual to ensure that no pilgrim faces preventable challenges during the Hajj exercise.
Adding his voice, the Director of Operations, Alhaji Abubakar Chika, reminded the screening team of the need to perform their work with “diligence and the fear of Allah.” He said that their role is not only medical but also a service to humanity and religion.
The leader of the medical screening team, Dr. Bello Attahiru, assured the pilgrims and the public that the team is fully ready.
“We are committed to providing quality care and medical support throughout the Hajj preparations,” he said.
The exercise is scheduled to commence on Saturday, starting with intending pilgrims from Wamakko and Silame Local Government Areas. The screenings are expected to cover various health checks to certify pilgrims fit for the rigors of the Hajj journey.
