An explosion rocked a part of Abuja on Monday, killing one person and injuring another. The blast occurred near Mogadishu Barracks, and initial reports suggest it may have been triggered by an improvised explosive device (IED).
According to AIT, a military eyewitness at the scene said the victim appeared to be a suicide bomber. The explosive was reportedly concealed in a rubber container.
Security agencies, including personnel from the military, Department of State Services (DSS), police, and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), quickly arrived at the location. They continued assessing the situation as investigations began.
However, military officials on ground offered a different view. They noted that the blast might not have involved an IED at all, but instead could have been caused by a mobile phone-related device.
