Suspended Rivers Governor Fubara Makes First Public Appearance in Port Harcourt

The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, made his first public appearance on Sunday, five days after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the state and suspended him from office.

Fubara attended a special prayer, worship, and thanksgiving service at the Salvation Ministries Headquarters in the Government Reservation Area (GRA) of Port Harcourt. His appearance ended speculations that he had left the state amid the ongoing political crisis.

During the service, Fubara expressed his gratitude to God, acknowledging His love, mercy, and support through the challenges he has been facing. He was joined by several political figures, elders, and key stakeholders from Rivers State, showing that he still enjoys the support of some influential personalities in the region.

In a statement, his Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, noted the presence of several notable figures who accompanied the governor. Some of them included Dr. Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff; Senator John Azuta Mbata, former Senate President Pro-Tempore and President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide; Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); and several other political and community leaders.

The thanksgiving service was a spiritually uplifting gathering, led by Pastor David Ibiyeomie, who delivered a sermon on “Living a Blessed Life” based on Genesis 1:28. The congregation participated in worship songs, scripture readings, and prayers for peace and prosperity in Rivers State.
