A petrol-laden tanker has exploded at Karu Bridge, near Nyanya, along the Abuja-Keffi Road, Abuja

The tragic incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, led to a raging fire that burnt over 30 vehicles.

Eyewitnesses say the tanker, loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), lost control before crashing on the bridge.

The impact caused an explosion, sending flames and thick black smoke into the sky. The fire quickly spread to nearby vehicles, trapping some motorists and causing a chaotic scene.

Security personnel and emergency responders rushed to the site to contain the situation. Firefighters worked tirelessly to douse the flames, while medical teams attended to victims.

Authorities have sealed off the affected area, redirecting traffic to prevent further incidents.

As of the time of this report, officials have not yet confirmed the number of casualties.
