Tension as Nasarawa Police Officer Takes Own Life

A police constable serving under the Nasarawa State Police Command, identified as Dogara Akolo Moses, has allegedly taken his own life under mysterious circumstances. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, February 4, at the Mada Station Division in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, has left his colleagues and many others in deep shock.

Moses was reportedly seen carrying out his regular duties earlier in the day, showing no signs of distress. However, he later entered one of the offices, where he allegedly shot himself. No suicide note was found at the scene, leaving the reasons behind his actions unknown.

Eyewitnesses said the sound of the gunshot alerted officers on duty, prompting them to rush to the scene. Upon arrival, they found Moses lying in a pool of blood with his service weapon beside him. One officer described the moment, saying, “Colleagues of the deceased who were outside the apartment heard the loud bang of the gunshot, prompting them to rush inside, where they found the officer lying on the floor with his gun beside him.”

Confirming the tragic incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for Nasarawa State, SP Ramhan Nansel, stated that investigations were ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the officer’s death. “Since the incident occurred, we have been following up on the matter to know exactly what transpired. Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the officer’s action,” he said.
