A late-night collision on New Year’s Eve left three people injured in an accident involving three vehicles on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. The crash occurred near the Agbo-Malu axis of Age-Mowo at around 11:36 p.m., according to William Manga, Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Badagry.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Commander Manga provided details of the incident. “Our personnel were alerted about the accident at about 11.42 p.m., and we got to the scene at 11.52 p.m., 10 minutes after they were alerted,” he stated.
The accident involved a Renault trailer with registration number BK 672 RB traveling from Badagry, a Toyota Camry with registration number JJJ 574 JP, and a Lexus vehicle that had no visible registration number. A total of five people were in the vehicles, but three sustained injuries of varying severity.
Emergency responders transported the injured to the Lagos State Mobil Clinic for medical attention. Manga attributed the collision to driver error, including loss of control and lack of concentration while navigating the one-lane expressway.
The damaged vehicles were promptly removed from the road to ease traffic flow. Manga also urged passengers to actively remind drivers to avoid excessive speed and appealed to motorists to prioritize safety on the expressway.
