Tinubu Confers Colonel Rank On His Aide-De-Camp, Nurudeen Yusuf

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially promoted his Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Nurudeen Yusuf, to the rank of Colonel in the Nigerian Army. The promotion ceremony took place at the State House, where the president personally decorated Yusuf with his new insignia.

The news was shared by Dada Olusegun, the president’s Special Assistant on Social Media, in a brief announcement on January 9, 2025. Alongside his statement, Olusegun posted three videos capturing the decoration ceremony.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu decorates his Aide-De-Camp, LT Colonel Nurudeen Alonwonle Yusuf with his new rank of Colonel at the State House. President congratulates ADC and his family on the accomplishment,” he tweeted.

Colonel Yusuf has served as President Tinubu’s ADC since May 2023, initially assuming the role with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His recent promotion marks another milestone in his career, which he has balanced alongside significant responsibilities in his hometown of Ilemona in Kwara State.

In July 2024, Yusuf was confirmed as the traditional ruler of Ilemona following the passing of his father, Oba Yusuf Omokanye Oyekanmi. Although he holds the title of monarch-in-waiting, Yusuf has continued his duties at the presidency. A regent was appointed to oversee the affairs of Ilemona until Yusuf assumes the throne fully.

The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, presented Yusuf with the staff of office to affirm his appointment as the new king. Residents of Ilemona have praised Yusuf for his humanitarian contributions and leadership qualities.

Despite his dual roles as a senior military officer and a traditional ruler, Yusuf has maintained his commitment to both his professional and cultural obligations, earning admiration from colleagues and community members alike.
