Tinubu Extends Immigration Boss Kemi Nandap’s Tenure Until 2026

President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of Kemi Nandap’s tenure as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) until December 31, 2026. This decision ensures she will continue leading the agency beyond her initial tenure, which was set to conclude on August 31, 2025.

The announcement was made on Monday in a statement issued by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. In the statement, the President acknowledged Nandap’s leadership and the progress recorded under her administration, particularly in border security, immigration reforms, and national security improvements.

“Under her leadership, the Nigeria Immigration Service has witnessed significant advancements in its core mandate, with notable improvements in border management, modernisation of immigration processes, and national security measures,” the statement read.

Nandap, who has been with the NIS since October 9, 1989, was officially appointed as Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024.

Since assuming office, she has overseen efforts to modernize immigration operations, strengthen border security, and enhance the overall efficiency of the agency. These improvements align with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to strengthen Nigeria’s security infrastructure and streamline administrative processes.
