Tinubu Focused on Improving Economy, Not 2027 Election – Presidency

The Presidency has stated that President Bola Tinubu is not currently concerned about the 2027 election. Instead, his focus remains on implementing economic policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, noted that the president is more interested in the long-term effects of his reforms rather than political strategies for re-election.

In a post on his X page on Friday night, Dare shared some of the key economic changes under Tinubu’s leadership.

“President Tinubu is not worried about the next election. He’s worried about the shared prosperity that he can bring to Nigerians,” he wrote.

He further noted that the president is focused on ensuring that his economic policies create a lasting impact. “He’s worried about how the reforms he has put in place will yield necessary impact. He is concerned about what happens to the economy of this country eventually. That’s the focus.”

Dare also pointed out that several economic indicators have shown positive signs, including an increase in foreign reserves, a drop in inflation, and a rise in trade surplus. He added that over $50 billion in investments had been attracted, exports had increased, and prices were stabilizing.

“We have clear data, and you have a President that is clearly in the driver’s seat, and he has stayed the course of the decisions he has taken. And I think that the next election is not really in his view right now. It’s how to make sure that at the end of his first term, he can sit back and say, look, ‘I have impacted the lives of Nigerians. I have turned this economy around.’”
