President Bola Tinubu has directed that all victims of the tragic tanker explosion in Karu, Abuja, receive urgent medical attention at various hospitals. He has also called for a full investigation into the incident to determine its cause and prevent future occurrences.
The explosion, which happened late Wednesday night, resulted in multiple accidents and claimed several lives. The incident has left many injured, and rescue workers have been on the scene providing aid to those affected.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the president’s directive in a statement released on Thursday. The statement, titled ‘President Tinubu directs investigation into tanker explosion in Karu, sympathises with victims’, expressed Tinubu’s concern over the tragic event and his commitment to ensuring the victims receive proper medical care.
Preliminary findings suggest that the tanker explosion may have been caused by brake failure and poor road conditions. However, officials are awaiting the outcome of the investigation to confirm the exact cause. Authorities are expected to provide a detailed report once the probe is completed.
Following the explosion, emergency response teams, including firefighters and medical personnel, were deployed to the area to manage the situation and assist victims. Several injured individuals were rushed to nearby hospitals, where they are currently receiving treatment.
