Tinubu to Chair APC National Caucus Meeting Today

President Bola Tinubu is set to preside over the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Caucus meeting today, February 25, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The confirmation came from the National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru. “By the grace of God, the President will be there. He has already confirmed his attendance,” he stated during an interview with PUNCH.

Basiru also addressed concerns about a possible postponement of the meeting, assuring that both the National Caucus and the National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, scheduled for today and tomorrow, would proceed as planned.

“No, nobody is postponing anything. The National Caucus and the NEC meetings will still be held Tuesday and Wednesday as scheduled,” he assured.

Last year, these important meetings were initially planned for September 11 and 12 in Abuja but were abruptly canceled. Although no official reason was given at the time, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, had assured that a new date would be announced. However, it took five months before any concrete plans for rescheduling were made public.

A leaked memo signed by Basiru revealed details of the meetings. According to the document, today’s National Caucus meeting will be held at the Presidential Villa banquet hall at 6 p.m., while the NEC meeting will take place tomorrow, February 26, at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The memo stated, “Distinguished colleagues, kindly circulate the following to all party stakeholders in the states that the National Caucus of the party is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 25 February 2025, at the Banquet of the Presidential Villa by 6 pm. The National Executive Committee is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, at the National Secretariat of the Party. Best regards.”

The meetings are expected to be chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and former President Muhammadu Buhari also in attendance. Other key figures expected at the gathering include APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Senate President Dr. Godswill Akpabio, past and present APC governors, former and current Speakers of the House of Representatives, state party chairmen, members of the National Working Committee, and other party stakeholders.

This will be the first NEC and National Caucus meeting under Ganduje’s leadership since he assumed office as the APC’s national chairman.
