Tinubu, Wife Depart For Three-Day France Visit Today

President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja on Wednesday for a three-day state visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. This visit aims to strengthen ties between Nigeria and France while fostering partnerships in key sectors, according to a statement from Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The official statement, titled ‘President Tinubu Honours Invitation for a State Visit to France,’ outlines the primary focus areas of the trip. Tinubu will explore opportunities in agriculture, education, health, security, youth development, energy transition, and innovation. The visit is expected to yield benefits for both nations, particularly in areas of mutual interest such as economic growth and cultural exchange.

On Thursday, President Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, will be formally received by President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron at the historic Les Invalides and the Élysée Palace. Following a ceremonial welcome, bilateral discussions will begin, focusing on strengthening collaboration in areas such as trade, solid minerals, and infrastructure development.

The leaders will also attend a meeting of the France-Nigeria Business Council, which promotes private sector engagement in economic growth. Meanwhile, Brigitte Macron and Oluremi Tinubu will discuss initiatives aimed at empowering women and vulnerable populations through Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Initiative.

The visit will conclude with a state dinner hosted by President Macron before Tinubu’s departure. Notably, this marks Tinubu’s 32nd international trip since taking office 18 months ago and his fifth visit to France. Accompanied by top government officials, Tinubu’s schedule reflects his administration’s focus on global partnerships to drive national development.
