Isa Dogonyaro, representing the Garki/Babura Federal constituency of Jigawa State, died on May 10, 2024, in Abuja. Dogonyaro, an APC member and deputy chairperson of the House Committee on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Control, had only recently secured his position following a legal battle over the election results.
Ekene Adams, a Labour Party member representing the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, passed away on July 16, 2024, at the age of 39. Adams, who chaired the House Committee on Sports, had a notable career in sports management before his election. His passing was a significant loss to both the sports community and his constituents.
In July, Musiliudeen Akinremi, representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency of Oyo State, died in Abuja at 51. Known as “Jagaban,” Akinremi served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions. An APC member, he was in his second term, having been elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023.
The National Assembly was again thrown into mourning with the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of Anambra South on a recent Saturday. Ubah, the Chief Executive Officer of Capital Oil and founder of several organizations, died in London. A prominent figure, Ubah’s contributions to business, sports, and politics were significant. He was 52 and would have turned 53 in September.
