Troops Arrest Three Suspected Bandits, Logistics Supplier in Taraba

Nigerian troops from the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in a recent military operation, successfully apprehended three suspects linked to various criminal activities in Taraba State. The arrest, which took place on October 7, 2024, occurred in Andamin village, located in Karim Lamido Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Adamu Abubakar, Mohammed Bello, and Musa Adamu, were taken into custody following a carefully planned operation by the troops. The military believes the three men were involved in a series of crimes in the region, contributing to the ongoing insecurity in parts of Taraba State.

In addition to these arrests, another significant capture was made in Lau Local Government Area during a separate operation. The troops managed to arrest a key logistics supplier for a notorious terrorist group operating in the region. The suspect, identified as Musa Inusa, is believed to have played a vital role in providing supplies and materials to the terrorists, helping sustain their operations.

According to a statement released by Captain Oni Olubodunde, the Acting Spokesperson for the 6 Brigade, the joint operation was launched with precision, targeting specific areas in both Karim Lamido and Lau Local Government Areas. He confirmed that the suspects were apprehended in Jeb, a border community between Taraba and Plateau States.

The statement further explained that the arrest of Musa Inusa in Lau is expected to disrupt the logistics network of the terrorist group, weakening their ability to operate. “His arrest is expected to disrupt the supply chain and further weaken the operational capabilities of the group,” the statement read.

During the operation, several items were recovered from the suspects, including a jack knife, the sum of N2,460, and wraps of substances believed to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs. These materials suggest involvement in both criminal activities and the possible support of terrorist operations in the region.
