The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two suspects in connection with the killing of a 25-year-old motorcycle rider, Dauda Manu.
In a statement on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, Ahmed Wakil, noted that the victim’s body was discovered along Dosho Village near Darazo on March 5, 2025. The body had multiple injuries, and the deceased was initially unidentified.
“On 05/03/2025, an incident report was available at the disposal of Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters that a motionless body of an unidentified individual was found lying along Dosho Village, near Darazo, with multiple injuries,” Wakil stated.
After the report was received, detectives from the Darazo Divisional Police Headquarters, led by the Divisional Police Officer, went to the scene. The victim was taken to General Hospital Darazo, where a doctor confirmed his death.
Investigations later revealed that Manu was last seen alive on March 4, 2025, riding his motorcycle with two unknown passengers. This led the police to track down and arrest a suspect, Yau Buba, a 25-year-old resident of Minchika Village in Darazo Local Government Area. Buba was found in possession of the victim’s motorcycle in Gombe State.
During questioning, Buba admitted that he bought the motorcycle for ₦250,000 from another suspect, Buba Muhammadu. This new lead resulted in Muhammadu’s arrest on March 21, 2025.
Wakil further stated that the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiries. He also confirmed that the suspects would face prosecution once the investigation is completed.
