Two Catholic Nuns Abducted in Anambra

Two Catholic nuns were abducted by unknown gunmen along Ufuma Road in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday evening while the nuns were traveling back from a vocational service meeting in Ogboji.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the development through its Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga. In a statement shared on Wednesday in Onitsha, Ikenga said, “A joint security operation is already ongoing for the possible rescue of the two victims.”

According to the police spokesperson, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nnaghe Itam, along with the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, promptly visited the scene of the incident to assess the situation.

Ikenga assured that the authorities are pursuing leads that could assist in apprehending the suspects and rescuing the victims.

He further emphasized that the police are committed to ensuring the safety of citizens and resolving the matter swiftly. However, no detailed information about the perpetrators or the circumstances leading to the abduction has been released.
