UBA Expands Global Reach, Set to Operate Fully in France

United Bank for Africa (UBA) has taken a major step toward enhancing its global presence by securing approval to launch full banking operations in France.

The agreement was finalized during a state visit by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu to France, marking a significant milestone for the pan-African financial institution.

In a notable development, UBA Group Chairman Tony Elumelu signed the agreement alongside French Finance Minister Antoine Armand. The ceremony took place in the presence of President Tinubu and French President Emmanuel Macron, symbolizing strong support from the French government for this venture.

Tony Elumelu expressed the importance of this partnership during the event. He stated, “This partnership reinforces our commitment to seamless international banking services for our customers, not just across the 11 Francophone African countries we serve, but Africa as a whole and French and European customers transacting with Africa.”

He also highlighted UBA’s vision for expanding its footprint, describing France as a natural choice for growth. Paris is set to become UBA’s hub in the European Union, joining other global financial centers like London, New York, and Dubai in the bank’s international network.
